Tyre Pyrolysis

Like the extraction of oil from waste plastic (you can find that article at here) , used tires can also used for extracting industrial oil .

 In the case of plastic, we get 60- 80% of industrial oil and 40-20% of fuel gas whereas in case of tires, we get 40-45% of industrial oil,30-35% of steel,20-10% of carbon black and fuel gas.

 But when compared to tyre pyrolysis, its more beneficial for plastic as it is readily available waste than tires.

 Comming to machinery, we have two types of pyrolysis plants.

Stage 1: At first, instead of feeding plastic waste directly into the reactor, feed reactor with smaller pieces of plastic. Making the waste into small pieces makes it more efficient in terms of time and energy. Why ? There is a growing concern about the usage of plastic in daily life.The major problem is segregating that waste plastic. Hence there is an idea of making industrial oil from waste plastic. What? The idea is breaking the long chain of polyethylene into its basic component - ethylene. It's  done by a method called pyrolysis. How? When the plastic is heated at high temperature in absence of air, it vaporizes. When it is condensed, it forms a thick brownish-gold color liquid which is flammable. When this liquid is further distilled, it breaks into petrol,diesel and kerosene.Industrial gas is also obtained as by-product.The method of pyrolysis can also be applied to waste tires, which on pyrolysis, gives industrial oil, steel , carbon black and industrial gas.
