Process involved in plastic pyrolysis

Stage 1:

At first, instead of feeding plastic waste directly into the reactor, feed reactor with smaller pieces of plastic. Making the waste into small pieces makes it more efficient in terms of time and energy. As plastic by volume, occupies large space in raw form lot of energy gets wasted at the melting point of plastic in the reactor if it's fed as raw.

Stage 2:

In this stage , make sure the reactor is sealed well and heat the reactor upto 300deg. At this point plastic starts to melt and boils and converts to vapor.

Stage 3:

This stage is meant for distillation of the vapors. At first , the high density  molecules of carbon gets condensed fast and at around 200deg diesel formation takes place.to maximize the collection of diesel depends upon the type of plastic used and cooling process adapted.

the first formed liquid is dark and have high carbon content.this can be again boiled to get diesel.this process, beside diesel, also gives hydro-carbon gas as a by-product.this can be used to fire up the reactor making it self generative.the coolant generally used is  water in which the vapor is went through the submerged pipes and get condensed.

A sample layout of the plant is as shown:
